Genius hour

Wyeth and I are trying to make a 10/20 minute stop motion movie.

We have started by creating a storyboard that we will loosely follow in our filming.

We are using an app on our phones called stopmotion studio which makes stuff look like it's moving by taking heaps of pictures of the thing in different positions. The app puts all the photos together to show about 10 photos per second like a live video.

Lego will be the thing we use for the stopmotion.

Lock Down Level Three

Level Three Of Covid-19

Now that we are in level three, so much has changed. actually no, scrap that.
Now that we are in level three, people are thinking that everything is back to normal.

When my mum went down to Paraparaumu to help some old people which are in our bubble she saw a huge line of people lining up outside McDonalds and they definitely weren't social distancing.
Covid 19 coronavirus: Wendy's CEO slams big players for not ...Not only that, but there was rubbish strewn all over a park.
All I can say is, "sorry earth, the humans have been released".

I have enjoyed the lockdown, being able bike on the side of the road without so much risk of "total elimination". getting to spend lots, and I mean LOTS of time with family. Our family has been watching a lot of NETFLIX, but we have also done other stuff like
  • A kids in charge day
  • A Family Masterchef
  • and playing lots of music
I hope things can get back to normal soon and I'll be able to see my friends and go to school again!

A day in the Life of Vader (Star Wars Animation)

star wars animation

Wyeth and I have started a youtube channel called Motion Builds which is a lego animation channel.
above is a little part in a series of test movies that we have been doing.

Day 1 of the Lockdown

When I got up on the morning of day 1 I could here the horses galloping around next door. I looked at my clock and it was already 10:00am. that's one good thing about being stuck at home, sleeping in.

I have created a routine:

  • sleeping in of course
  • then making my bed and getting dressed
  • get up have a shower
  • have breakfast
  • do a little bit of schoolwork
  • go for a walk up the hill across the road
  • come back and do more work
  • then finally relax
over the past few days I have made russian fudge, dad got us disney+ for a week and bought a lego set to keep me sane.

We made beer bread which is a type of bread that doesn't use yeast. It's easy to make and takes about 1 hour.
Here's the recipe:

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 330ml can of warm beer
Method:
sift the dry ingredients. make a well in the centre. add the can of beer. mix quickly and lightly (this is a sticky dough). put into a bread pan lined with baking paper. bake at around 175c for around an hour.
(the alcohol cooks off so not alcoholic).

even though being stuck at home has its down sides, I think we can all get through it.

How I Learn (Maths)

  • I learn best when It's quiet and I am in the zone doing maths without distractions.
  • Peers constantly annoying or talking to me can stop me from learning.
  • The most exciting thing about being in year 9 is that you can make choices about what you learn!
